A Place to Paint
,,,,, and lots of nice millwork was the request from the owner of this unique little addition. A gift from a loving wife to her husband after he had discovered painting, this little urban gem captures all the natural light it can. An earlier, flat roofed addition posed a challenge while trying to develop the appropriate roof lines and volume. Popping the new roof "up" and creating a clearstory of windows flooded the interior space with gallon of indirect, natural light. Traditional interior millwork was layered to give the space substance. The mercury bell jar light fixture is like a jewel hanging on the end of a necklace, reflecting the upper windows in a circular pattern. Builder: Walsh Co. Inc. Newton, MA
